Celebration as Enugu International Airport reopens for flight operations

 

The Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, was on Sunday opened for flight activities. 

AfricanBase reviews that the Airport was closed down August a year ago, for fix works and extension of the runway. 

In the midst of celebration by the individuals of the Southeast Zone, the avionics serve, Senator Hadi Sirika cut the tape on Sunday, flagging resumption of flight tasks. 

Sirika complimented President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting and delivering 10 billion naira for the recovery works. 

He reviewed that President Buhari had requested that he set out on the recovery work after wellbeing concerns were raised and recognized him for satisfying his guarantee. 

He further unveiled that a ton of works were done in the air terminal, expressing that the air terminal could now complete night flight tasks following arrangement of night offices. 

The Minister, notwithstanding, noticed that over the span of the restoration works, they experienced a ton of difficulties like Covid-19 lockdown, the Orie Emene Markert, decimation of the edge fencing, among others. 

He communicated gratefulness to the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for helping them to contain a portion of the difficulties through the destruction of Orie Emene Markert and some Government offices. 

He complimented the endeavors of the South East Governors in setting up the Akanu Ibiam Rehabilitation Committee, bringing up that the board of trustees presented with enthusiasm.

Prior in his comments, the legislative head of Ebonyi State and Chairman of South East Governors' Forum, Dave Umahi communicated joy over the resuming of the air terminal, saying the recovery of the air terminal was a hazard worth taking. 

While complimenting President Buhari for endorsing a unique financing for the task, Umahi portrayed him as an enthusiastic pioneer. 

Umahi focused on the requirement for South East Governors and pioneers to make out an ideal opportunity to reveal to Buhari that they were to be sure thankful over what he is doing in the locale. 

"It was a hazard worth taking. South East pioneers and lead representatives must make out an ideal opportunity to tell president Muhammadu Buhari that we are appreciative," he said. 

Others present at the event were Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, spoke to by his Deputy, Governor Willy Obiano of Anambra State, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, among others.
